The Technology HelpDesk provides assistance with all University technology to all students, faculty and staff. Located in the Cullom-Davis Library, the Technology HelpDesk is open 7 days a week. HelpDesk hours during Move-In weekend will be from 1-5pm so feel free to stop by or call to speak to a consultant at (309)677-2964. You may also find information you need on the HelpDesk Website so take a little time to become familiar with this excellent resource.
Computer Hook-up and Registration
- After setting up your computer, connect to the network using your ethernet cable (this is NOT a phone cable). If you forget your cable, you can purchase one at the Bookstore;
- Immediately after connecting to the network, launch your browser (Internet Explore, Netscape, etc.) and you will be directed to the on-line registration program;
- You will need to know your BUnetID and password to complete this process;
- If you did not complete the Responsible Computing steps prior to move-in, it will be necessary to follow all of the instructions to ensure that your computer is secure on the network;
- Follow all instructions to register your computer on the network and then turn your computer off for 10-15 minutes;
- Students living in Heitz Hall will be provided with a hub. Follow all instructions in your room prior to installing the hub including registering both computers directly to the network prior to connecting to the hub.
