HOW DO I GET (activate) MY BUnetID? With your invitation to attend the mandatory new student Orientation, you received an account activation letter which includes
- your BUnetID and
- your activation code
You will be required to complete the account activation process in order to register for orientation on-line. If you chose to register for your Orientation through the mail, it will still be necessary to complete the BUnetID activation process prior to attending your Orientation session. During Orientation, you will use your BUnetID to register for your classes.

- Go to MyBU
- Login (upper right corner) using your BUnetID and password
- Select the 'My Page' tab
- Follow the instructions to register for foreWarn or opt out.
B-Mail (student E- mail)
B-Mail is the official method of University communications for students. |
B-Mail is a Google-based electronic mail client, providing more storage, improved organization features, and one-click chat. When you activate your BUnetID, you will automatically be set up with a B-Mail account. Your B-Mail address is your BUnetID@mail.bradley.edu (e.g. Elton John would be ejohn@mail.bradley.edu).
Access your B-Mail (student E-mail) at http://mail.bradley.edu. You can manage your BUnetID password through the MyBU portal. Visit the Technology HelpDesk website for more information on B-Mail.
BlackBoard
BlackBoard creates an effective learning environment through network-based learning and correspondence. Your BlackBoard username is your BUnetID. However, BlackBoard uses an independent password process so it will be necessary to change your BlackBoard password whenever you change your BUnetID one.
Following are instructions to set up your BlackBoard account (user name and password). Please read all instructions carefully and click on the link below to get started:
The first time you access the BlackBoard login page . . .

. . . type in your 'username' (your BUnetID) and select Forgot Password? (under password field). The BlackBoard program will send an e-mail to your Bradley e-mail account with a link to set up your password. Once you have initially set up your BlackBoard password, you will have access to all of it's features.

Purchase a computer
Most students bring their own computer to campus, but it is not required. Responsible Computing
Protect your computer from viruses, spyware, compromised passwords, etc. Responsible Computing steps can be completed before you move to campus (strongly recommended). If you do not perform the Responsible Computing steps prior to your move to campus, you will be required to do so when you first connect your computer to the network.

Telephone and Network information
Should I bring a phone? Yes. Bradley University does not provide phones in residence hall rooms. If you bring a cordless phone, make sure it is 900Mhz.
Bradley University does not provide long distance telephone service. We recommend using a long distance calling card or cell phone.
Cable TV? Bradley does provide cable television service in the residence halls. Be sure to bring a TV cable to hook up to the jack and don't forget your remote.
