Microsoft Compatibility Pack
Install the Microsoft Compatibility Pack and you will be able to open, edit, save and create files in the Office 2007 (Open XML) formats using your current version of Office.
Follow these steps in the order given:
Install updates.
It’s extremely important to have all updates installed prior to installing the Compatibility Pack:

Install Compatibility Pack:
