General Computer Lab Regulations
Bradley University
April 12, 2002

This document is a recommendation for all Bradley-owned computers that are available to the student population in various labs on campus. These are not meant to override current rules and regulations placed on computer labs by the various colleges.

  • Classes conducted in any lab take priority over posted lab hours.

  • Students using the lab prior to a class will be informed by the instructor if they must leave.

  • Students who are disruptive in any way will be asked to leave the lab.

  • Students causing damage to furniture, computer hardware or the lab in general will be held responsible for repair and or replacement.

  • Save all work to either a floppy disk, a Zip disk or to allocated departmental server space, if applicable. All data stored on a computer in a lab is subject to removal at any time. This will vary from one lab to another. For labs that are strictly for the use of a particular college, students will need to review college lab regulations.

  • Each lab is different depending on its location and college requirement. Prior to printing, it is the student's responsibility to become familiar with printing procedures.

  • Any modification of computer equipment may cause the student to lose lab privileges and/or be assessed damages. Some examples of tampering:

    • Disconnection of computer cables to use on personal devices.
    • Moving CPU to attach personal equipment to same.
    • Removal of any hardware - including the cover on the CPU.

  • NO FOOD or DRINK in the labs at any time.

  • Hardware/Software Problems - Problems with any of the lab systems are to be reported to the Technology HelpDesk (x2964) or responsible lab technician. Some labs may have an alternative reporting procedure in place.

Software Installation Guidelines
Bradley University Mediated Classrooms and Computer Labs
April 12, 2002

As faculty demand for installation of software on various lab and mediated classroom computers increases, Customer Support Services would like to propose the following guidelines to be followed by all departments.

  • Labs will have systems re-imaged at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters.

  • All software to be installed must be given to Customer Support Services at least four (4) weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. Additional software requested for installation after the four-week deadline will be installed the following semester. Costomer Support Services needs faculty contact information for each software package so arrangements for testing can be made subsequent to installation.

  • Only software with valid licensing for all machines to be upgraded will be installed.

  • Labs which require faculty to disconnect a desktop machine in order to use their laptop are requested to re-connect the desktop machine prior to leaving the lab.

  • Problems with any of the lab systems should be reported to the Technology HelpDesk (x2964) or responsible technician. Some labs may have alternative reporting procedures in place.

  • Teaching labs should have one hour a week scheduled for general maintenance of the computer system(s). The designated times for labs will need to be staggered between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday to enable Customer Support Services to get to each lab.
